wedding photography at horsley towers, surrey

Although based in Yorkshire, Mel and Chris chose to get married at All Saints Church in Banstead – a special place for Mel and her family, who are based in Surrey. Not only was All Saints the family church growing up, but Mel's sister Helen also had her wedding here. The close ties with the area added a wonderful personal touch to the proceedings, with many family and friends contributing to the day – from Mel's sister Imogen singing a solo in the service, her auntie playing the oboe, the fantastic church choir and live music (made up of 5 trumpeters, a violin, the oboe, the choir of All Saints, and friends from the local St. Cecilia Chorus!) and the rather scrumptious cake reception after the ceremony - all made possible by their fantastic family and friends.

After the ceremony and cake reception a vintage car (a lovely 1930s style Ford Model A) and routemaster bus took the wedding party to Horsley Towers, East Horlsey, where Mel and her bridesmaids got ready earlier that day.

Horsley Towers is a rather impressive Victorian mansion built in 1828 with an imposing, almost gothic, exterior and some wonderful grounds. Although the sun had been in and out all day, it broke through the clouds as the guests exited the bus and stayed throughout the afternoon. The personal touches continued at Horsley Towers - with Mel's mum having made the cake, and some lovely family wedding photos on display. After the wedding breakfast and speeches, the guests assembled around the dance floor for the first dance and the grand finale - the balloon drop! I know Chris had been particularly excited about setting this up - so it was great to see it work on cue to the cheers of the guests.

It was a wonderful day and we wish Mel & Chris all the best in their future together. Here are some highlights from the day.

Thanks to Sandra Reddin for being my second photographer on the day.
